ABSTRACT

Most wedding receptions will begin with an introduction of the wedding party. The DJ or MC will read the names of the wedding party members, usually in pairs, as they enter the room or reception area. The best methods of determining which doorway they will enter from is to either ask the DJ or find the doorway that the wedding party is lining up behind. When the toast presenters are not standing next to the couple, then focus your shots on them most of the time. If there’s any way that you can zoom out wide enough to get them and the couple in the shot, you may use this shot when you feel it’s appropriate, but use it sparingly. The father-bride dance usually starts this segment. They may dance an entire song together or during the song, the groom and his mother may join in. Not every wedding has both, but be aware that it’s become more common.
