If you need to contact a supplier you need information. You need to know the supplier's telephone number and address and a contact name.

If you make Product X you need information. You need to know what materials are needed, what processes they have to go through, and in what order.

If you are waiting for this month's pay packet – well, you'll have to carry on waiting until the payroll department has collected all the information it needs about your rate of pay, how many hours of overtime you've worked, your tax details, any sick days, and so on.
