AAL: ATM Adaptation Layer. AAN: All Area Networking. AAR: Automatic Alternative Routeing. abandoned call: A call which is terminated after a connection has been
made but before the receiver goes off-hook, i.e. conversation occurs. abbreviated address call: A call which requires a subset of the full address
to initiate the call, the complete address being available from the network switch, such as a packet assembler/disassembler.
