ABSTRACT
Introduction Patterns and Processes is the dynamic element in our model of Event Studies (Figure 1.3). In this chapter the two foundation disciplines of history and geography are considered in depth, representing the temporal and spatial dimensions. Future Studies might be considered an extension of history, an element in strategic planning, or a field of study on its own, but it is treated separately in order to stress the need for future thinking. The other two dynamic processes shaping Event Studies are considered in separate chapters, namely policy and knowledge creation.
