ABSTRACT

Hydro power has been used for centuries to turn wheels to grind grain, raise water to irrigate fields and gardens, and to drive large mechanical devices. One of the most widespread of the water power devices is the waterwheel. It has been used since at least 1000 BC by the Assyrians on the banks of the Euphrates1 and is found in countries around the world from China to Britain and from Canada and Australia to Nepal in the Himalayas.
