ABSTRACT

Bumper Switches - Also known as tape or mat switches, these sensors are triggered by contact. Smaller versions are used as safety interlocks for devices which require an actor to stand in a particular location before the effect will operate, and continuous tape versions are often used around lifts to stop travel in the same manner as a photo eye does. In this use, the lift must stop instantly or the tape must include sufficient cushioning to allow the lift to stop before injury can occur.
