ABSTRACT

This chapter suggests a number of requirements concerning the layout and physical size of the radiator's conductors and segments. When modeling the radiator, the main electrical consideration is segment length relative to the wavelength. Tower models fall into two categories: thick-wire models and lattice models. The most simple of all tower configurations is a single wire with a radius equal to the equivalent radius of the tower. The lattice configuration appears to be useful for instances that prefer all wires to be of the same or nearly the same radius. Some examples of this are antennas employing skirts, folded monopoles, and top-loaded antennas. The code for tower configurations as complex as the lattice are almost impossible to verify as error free without some computer help.
