ABSTRACT
These are known as FETs, for short. They are active devices (p. 70) and there are several kinds of them, including junction FETs (JFETs) that were widely used in the past. Nowadays an enormous range of n-channel metal oxide silicon FETs (n-channel MOSFETs) is available and, with BJTs, are now the most commonly used types. We deal only with MOSFETs in this book and will simply call them FETs.
