ABSTRACT
We have discussed at length the background to video signals and measurement. Now is the time to look at practical situations. First there are the picture sources and then, how these link into systems. The most complex picture source is the camera because unlike any other, its output is photographic and is therefore unpredictable as regards tonal range and colour. But before we lose ourselves in the excitement of the camera, we must first deal with another aspect of the video system.
