ABSTRACT

The aim of these projects is to develop an understanding of both lighting design and lighting management by placing students in situations where they can discover how to use light on the stage. By limiting the number of variables, each project concentrates attention on specific problems. The starting point is the cornerstone of all lighting design: a study of the consequences of the angle at which light hits objects and actors. From this, the project sequence is structured so that one discovery leads to another, with each project placing increasing demands upon the contribution of light.
