ABSTRACT
The size of the art page, whether physical or digital, is informed by the format. Different publishers then ask for different measurements within this standard page size. All the different dimensions and sizes can get extremely confusing. In Japan, brand-new manga is usually released as one of several different stories in magazinesized anthologies, tailored to a specific gender, age group or subject matter. The best of these serial stories are then collected later in digest-sized books called tank–obon. Manga fans eschew comic book stores and buy almost all their manga from bookstores, which might carry one spinner rack of comics, but several shelves of graphic novels. Original English-language manga has the best chance to succeed in this environment, because it gets to the people who read it.
