3D modeling is a difficult process that takes practice to master. Depending on the subject you are trying to model, whether it is a character, or a complete environment the difficulty level will vary. When modeling you need to decide what type of modeling technique or surface type to use. You might start with a basic primitive and edit it with the help of an Edit Poly modifier. Alternatively, you might choose to use patches because of their Bezier curve controls, useful for modeling objects such as cars.
