ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at some audio studio items that are often treated as passive devices that simply exist in the studio, but they are actually quite significant. Monitor speakers (see Figure 7.1 ) are used to listen to sound in the studio. The speakers convert the audio signal, stored on recording media like CDs or digital recorders, back into sound we can actually hear. The sound that comes from them is the final product, so they are important in determining the quality of that product. What you hear on the monitor speakers is an accurate gauge of what you recorded and what the listener will hear.
