ABSTRACT
2.1 Introduction
This chapter explains how architecture emerged as a separate profession, how architects are educated and derive their authority, and it also looks at the newer and emerging profession of architectural technologists. It goes on to examine the architect's and architectural technologist's relationships and duties to clients and the public, the importance of architects and technologists keeping up to date after qualifying, and other important background matters that affect architectural practices.
