ABSTRACT
Introduction The first part of this chapter describes the range of materials that have been used for covering roofs over the last 300 years or so. The second part considers construction principles, and the third part, construction details. Nowadays there are literally hundreds of tiles and slates available, and for specific technical information contact should be made with the manufacturers who produce excellent trade literature showing how their products should be used.
