ABSTRACT
There are two principal controls that protect trees: one is found in planning legislation, and concerned with the protection of trees because of the interests of amenity; and another is found in the Forestry Act 1967 and controls felling, through the issue of felling licences, with a view to the proper conservation and management of timber resources.
