ABSTRACT
A highway is a strip of land over which the public at large have the right to pass and repass. There are various categories of public rights over highways; on carriageways there is the right to pass and repass on foot, horse or by vehicle; on bridleways, foot, horse or by bicycle; on footpaths, on foot only. There are, in addition, special types of highways such as motorways, walkways and cycle paths.
