ABSTRACT
The resort was created on the site of the Carnegie archaeological expedition’s accommodation of the
1920s and also utilises many of the original Hacienda buildings. It is a classic example of the recycling of the entire site, whilst maintaining its original purpose of providing an overnight shelter for visitors to the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza (Figure 4.8.1).
