Tours to the townships of South Africa have been developed in recent years as a form of pro-poor tourism and to meet the demand for authenticity from the ‘new tourist’. However, this type of tourism is controversial and raises a number of issues exemplified by this case of the township of Soweto. On completion of the case you will:
