ABSTRACT

Once Soundtrack is installed and the first project or file is transferred, the next step is to help one to orient to the interface and general editing workflow. Soundtrack is better at audio editing than the more-used Logic Pro 9, which is why it is bundled with Logic and is fully integrated into it as a closer than typical external audio editor. The timeline is an important part of the editing process. This is where the clips live and one can use a lot of different tools to achieve the editing objectives. Having a good grasp of the various zooming options is critical to editing and, for beginners, it is almost as important as actually listening to the sound. Using visual cues can be a useful crutch when in a situation when there isn’t a good listening environment or there is loud background noise. Markers are often used as a tool to make the editing process more efficient.
