ABSTRACT

The Aperture interface follows the design of Apple's Pro apps, with a darker background, smaller font and distinctive panels inside a unified interface. This chapter aims to use Browser mode, which displays the images inside various libraries, each of which is listed in the Library inspector to the left. Every photo the photographer import into Aperture is a Digital Master. Images are edited in the Viewer and organized in the Browser. When viewing thumbnails in Browser Only mode the size of the thumbnail is set using the slider at the bottom of the interface. The Browser can display the images in two ways: either as thumbnails organized in a grid formation (L g), or as a list of files (L l) accompanied by supplementary metadata showing key attributes including aperture, shutter speed, creation date and focal length. Aperture will maintain a live preview of the results of photographers' Filter queries in the Browser window.
