Timber Pests

The risk of damage by timber pests for any given piece of timber in a building will be related to a

number of factors including:

• The natural durability of the species of timber

• The ‘food value’ of the timber

• Adverse environmental conditions – particularly moisture content of the timber

• Protection afforded through any treatment by chemical preservatives.
