ABSTRACT

The rapid advances in technology, the need for lifelong learning, and the growth of non-traditional students have encouraged the use of the computer as a method of instructional delivery. In fact, computer-based instruction (CBI) is fast becoming a routine part of learners’ lives. Unfortunately, research on CBI has been largely atheoretical and not focused on adult learners. The model discussed in this chapter is the first to be developed explicitly for adult learners and addresses the growing need for a planning framework to make computer-based instruction effective for them.
