ABSTRACT

An organizational structure is the framework that outlines how tasks are divided, grouped and coordinated within an organization (Robbins et al. 2004). Every sport organization has a structure that outlines the tasks to be performed by individuals and teams. Finding the right structure for an organization involves juggling requirements to formalize procedures whilst fostering innovation and creativity. The ‘right’ structure means one in which owners and managers can exert adequate control over employee activities without unduly affecting people’s motivation and attitudes to work. It also provides clear reporting and communication lines while trying to reduce unnecessary and costly layers of management.
