ABSTRACT
There has been government intervention in the letting of commercial property for many years. The extant legislation provides that: leases may not end when they should end under the terms of the lease; the rents landlords might wish to charge cannot be charged; tenants may be compensated if they are forced to leave at the end of their leases, and may be compensated for improvements when they leave.
