ABSTRACT

T hroughout the world, almost everything that is man made has been engineered in some way, everything from large civil engineering projects, such as bridges, hydroelectric power stations and highly sophisticated transport systems, to the humble offi ce paper clip. It is this amazing diversity that makes engineering such an interesting and rewarding profession to follow. Each and everyone of these engineering achievements requires engineers and technicians to project manage them. In fact engineers and technicians spend the majority of their time working on, or managing projects, no matter how large or how small. Large complex projects will involve a multidisciplinary engineering team to see it through from start to fi nish, while smaller projects may be managed or worked on by individual engineers or technicians.
