ABSTRACT
I shall take the unusual step (for an academic work) of introducing my topic with a personal reflection. Given the recency of the phenomenon with which it deals (alternative online news sources, including but not limited to sites frequently referred to as blogs), and the usefulness of direct experience (among other sources) as a contributor to significant research questions, I argue that personal reflection has a legitimate place in scholarship.
