ABSTRACT

When attempting to understand human physiology, a small degree of anatomical knowledge is required. A more detailed understanding of the morphology of different cell types and tissues is needed. These details are presented in later topics in this section, but let us start with a brief overview of the gross anatomical structure of the human body. As will become apparent, the body is made up of an external surface, through which we interact with our environment, supported by services to provide oxygen, blood, nutrients, and instructions in order that we may move around. Let us consider each of these in turn.
