ABSTRACT
The question posed at the end of the previous chapter demands that we add a further element to the ontological web that constitutes Heidegger’s account of the human way of being. It will show how average everyday social relations involve a particular kind of absorption in or preoccupation with the world, and so a particular kind of disclosure of it. But this addition permits Heidegger to conclude his preliminary investigation of human conditionedness by providing a single, overarching characterization of human existence that reveals the unity of its ontological underpinnings.
