ABSTRACT
Over the past few years there has been considerable pressure on teachers to do less individual work and more work in a whole-class situation, and less topic work in which subjects are integrated. Teachers have also been coping with the introduction of the National Curriculum and seeking out ways of working within its confines which are in accord with their values and beliefs about primary school learning and teaching.
