Lord Chesterfield thought that an injury is much sooner forgotten than an insult. Edward Moore in ‘The Foundling’ linked the two when he wrote, ‘This is adding insult to injury’. Bullying may involve injury resulting from physical violence, but may also involve insults and intimidation.
