ABSTRACT
Among the early Islamic philosophers, Ibn Sina stands out as a thinker of exceptional power and versatility. The whole of his philosophy stems from his conception of God as a necessary being whose essence is to exist and from whom the universe necessarily flows. His thought is not highly original but it is marvellously systematic, fluent and lucid.
