ABSTRACT
Ramanuja was a Hindu philosopher and theologian who exerted considerable influence on the tradition of thought known as Vedanta 1 and who led a community that revered him for his saintly example and inspiration. His philosophy is a questioning and critical development of the monistic teaching of Sankara 2 and is described as Visistadvaita, or qualified nondualism.
