ABSTRACT
It would seem that strong materialism is the truth about persons. The answer to the question ‘What am I?’ is ‘A wholly material thing.’ For in Chapter 3 we concluded that the subject of conscious thoughts and experiences must be a physical thing, namely the living human being, or brain. And in Chapter 5 we concluded that the conscious states of the subject—the thoughts and experiences themselves—are very likely physical as well.
