ABSTRACT

What follows is not really meant to introduce new material; rather the old will be newly organized and the new integrated with the old. We have already introduced a division of human illnesses according to two principles of division: symptomatology and etiology. We then distinguish between pheno-psychological and pheno-somatic illnesses-according to whether their symptoms are psychological or somatic-and regarding etiology, between somatogenic and psychogenic illnesses. According to this schema of division, psychosis falls under the pheno-psychological, somatogenic illnesses.
