ABSTRACT

It is recognised that most things can be taught using any given medium, but there are situations where it is recognised that one medium is likely to be much more effective than others in facilitating student learning. It is in fact quite common in ODL to move backwards and forwards from one medium to another, making use of different media at different points in time for different purposes. However, it is also recognised that a combination of media can often be much more effective than any single medium, and the intent in this chapter is to provide you with some insight into the variety of ways in which media might be exploited to facilitate student learning.
