ABSTRACT

In 1963, at the height of the Civil Rights Movement, Gordon C. Green, who had served on the faculty of historically Black Dillard University, published “Negro Dialect, the Last Barrier to Integration,” in The Journal of Negro Education. Characterizing the changing racial climate of the time, he presented an optimistic projection of a future America in which overt racism and apartheid racist practices would be a thing of the past.
