ABSTRACT
Millennial and apocalyptic political movements in Western history are in large part traceable to the historical consciousness derived from the Judeo-Christian tradition. The ultimate origin of this, in turn, lies in the Yahweh cult of the first millennium BC and the understanding of sacred history it entailed for the ancient Israelites.
