ABSTRACT
UFO religions are one of the more innovative forms of millennial thinking to emerge during the latter half of the twentieth century. These religions translate traditional religious myths and symbols into the language of modern science and technology. In creating a vision of superior planetary civilizations coming to rescue humanity from selfdestruction, they help increasing numbers of people cope with anxieties concerning nuclear and biological weapons, cloning, rapid technological advances, and the globalization of political and economic power.
