ABSTRACT
The Sabbatian movement was a Jewish messianic movement centering around the figure of Sabbatai Zvi. It began in 1665 CE and persisted in various forms through the eighteenth century. It represents the largest Jewish messianic movement since the Bar Kokhba revolt of the second century CE.
