Introduction

Here we introduce principal documents and doctrines of Christianity and Rabbinic Judaism in the first six centuries of the Common Era, the time in which both religious traditions took shape. Seen side by side, normative compositions and convictions afford comparison and contrast; and hence perspective and insight not to be gained when Christian and the Rabbinic-Judaic religious statements and systems are seen by themselves. Comparison depends upon points of intersection and commonality.
