ABSTRACT
I have always been fascinated by scientists, because they appear to be the only people in the world who are immune to personal pettiness. Most people’s careers are based on getting-ahead, perhaps even at the expense of others. Scientists’ goals, on the other hand, are not personal but collective. We imagine that their work is exclusively dedicated to the betterment of humankind.
