ABSTRACT

As we progress into the next millennium the ongoing rapid advances in information technology will be manifest on a global basis. Such advances will affect all areas of global trade in both service and product manufacturing industries, in particular the processing of the export consignment, the international banking payment systems and global distribution including the terminal, carriers, customs, cargo status, stowage, data bank, planning, and so on. Many of these advances are already in place and in the process of rapid improvement/development/extension. Information technology is relentless in its progress and recognizes no languages, cultures or time zone barriers. Such technology has shrunk the world in terms of communication and distribution, bringing markets closer together.
