ABSTRACT
If, according to Wendell Berry, “eating is an agricultural act”, then by
extension it is also an ecological act. What we eat and how we eat has
more impact on the Earth than almost anything else. Yet we have shown
little interest in this connection until recently, when terms such as food
miles, carbon footprint and Fairtrade have come into wider public
discourse.
