ABSTRACT

Vice-Admiral Sir Patrick Bayly, KBE, CB, DSC**. He was a pioneer beachmaster for Combined Operations in WW2. His job was to ensure that the army got ashore in the right place at the right time, and that the supplies and reinforcements arrived on time, and in the right order. He earned two DSCs for his part in the landings in Sicily, in 1943, and at Salerno later that year.
