ABSTRACT

He started as a shipwright apprentice in Pembroke Dockyard in 1877, and was selected to do a course of training at the RNC, Greenwich. In due course he became an Assistant Constructor in the RCNC. Under Sir William WHITE he was involved in the detailed design of the last pre-dreadnoughts, the King Edward VIIs (the ‘Wobbly Eight’), and the Lord Nelsons.
