Ijime: the price of super-conformity book
In February 1986, Shikagawa Hirofumi, a 13-year-old student of Nakono Fujimi Junior High School in Tokyo, killed himself by hanging from the coat hook on a toilet door of Morioka railway station.2 His suicide note read: ‘I don’t yet want to die, but it’s like living in hell to go on like this’. In the note, he referred to his experiences of ijime and disclosed the names of two leaders of an ijime group consisting of several boys (AS 3 February 1986).
