Obtaining your first teaching post involves a number of stages, each of which is equally important. You need to be clear about why you want to enter the teaching profession, and then decide where you want to teach, look for suitable vacancies, select a post which interests you and send for further details, prepare your curriculum vitae (CV), write a generic and then specific letter of application, contact potential referees to make sure that they are prepared to act for you and to confirm their address, make an application, prepare for an interview (and undertake a mock interview, if possible), attend the interview and accept the post. This unit is designed to help you with that process.
