ABSTRACT
The school-based experiences of the student teacher depend on a three-way partnership between the school, the student teacher and a higher education institution, except in those cases where the school is undertaking teacher education on its own. These experiences include the periods of whole class teaching as well as those occasions when direct class teaching is not the main purpose of the exercise.
