Any well-established hospital estates department will have quantities of information about the necessary technical elements of maintaining buildings and making them operable, but there will probably be less about their histor ic and aesthetic aspects. Most of this brief and selective section refer s to those relevant organisations, librar ies and archives that deal with these issues and which have been of help during the writing of this chapter, but there are many other agencies which could be found, as and when required, from these key contacts.
